JOHN STEVENS
Regents House Ltd. was founded by John Stevens, who, after creating the Antique Acquistions department at Masins Fine Furnishings & Interior Design in 1997, served as director of the department for 10 years. Prior to joining the staff at Masins, John worked in the department of European Furniture and Decorative Arts at Sotheby's auction house in New York, and as Acquisitions Coordinator at the Museum of Modern Art.
A noted authority on antiques and traditional interiors, Stevens' commercial installations and residential design work have been featured in Seattle Magazine, Seattle Homes & Lifestyles, & Pacific NW Magazine. His own Clyde Hill home received prominent coverage in the King County Journal and Northwest Home & Garden Magazine's annual "Where the Experts Live" issue. Read Lawrence Kreisman's recent article on Stevens' collections and home in the Seattle Times.
In addition to a B.A. in Art History from Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, Stevens participated in an extensive arts & cultural study program with University College London and the Sorbonne in Paris. He also received specialized training in design history and connoisseurship at the Bard Graduate Center for Studies in the Decorative Arts in New York City. He is a past president of Seattle Art Museum's Decorative Arts & Paintings Council and an Honorary Chair of DIFFA.
Stevens' column Classic Finds & Design is published bi-monthly in Seattle Magazine.
